Did you know that 1 in 9 men are affected by prostate cancer at some point in their life? With prostate cancer being the third leading cause of death via cancer amongst men in the US, this problem is more serious than most people think. No one seems to have the answer to this problem as of now, but the fight continues to find the cure.
Urology Tyler has partnered with ZERO – the End of Prostate Cancer once again to help fund the effort. Here is everything you need to know about the 2nd Annual ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk in Tyler on September 29th from the Village at Cumberland Park.
ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk
This event will not only be raising awareness for prostate cancer but will also be raising money to help patients and families of patients to receive treatment, education and support. Last year the event raised over $114,000 from over 550 people in assisting the treatment of prostate cancer. This year, they are hoping to raise even more money, and they could use your help.
Why It’s Important
While prostate cancer treatment has gone down significantly in the US, the number of men with aggressive prostate cancers has risen. Awareness of this disease has been at an all-time low since the U.S. Preventative Task Force recommended against PSA screening for prostate cancer. With an estimated 161,360 men in the US diagnosed with prostate cancer last year, higher awareness is necessary. Just like with any disease, catching prostate cancer in its early stages helps ensure a full recovery.
Mark your calendars for September 29, 2018, at 9:30 AM to help raise awareness for prostate cancer at the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk at the Village at Cumberland Park.
