Queen is without a doubt one of the most influential British rock bands of all time. In fact, they were much more than a rock band. They incorporated aspects of Jazz, Opera and tons of other fun musical elements into their songs. Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor, John Deacon and Brian May will go down in history as some of the greatest musicians of all time, and the Bohemian Rhapsody biopic is certainly helping. For anyone that saw the movie, you may be itching to try out some of their gear. Here is our list of the gear from Bohemian Rhapsody that you can buy for holiday gifts at The Village at Cumberland Park Guitar Center:
The Gear From Bohemian Rhapsody: Brian May
The guitarist of Queen, Brian May, is notorious for his huge hair, distinct tone and Red Special guitar. While you can’t exactly buy a guitar as unique as his, the Gibson Les Paul Jr. is pretty close! It’s got a similar body shape, pickguard shape and tone to the Red Special. One sure fire way to replicate the tones of Brian May is to pick up a Vox AC30. The warm, clean and classic British tone made by this amp makes it one of the best of all time. He is seen in the movie using nearly 10 at one time.
Freddie Mercury
It’s going to take a lot of practice to match the singing ability of the late and great Freddie Mercury, but having the right gear helps. Freddie loved to use his Shure 565SDLC Microphone on stage along with a broken mic stand. You can see in the movie that he breaks it on accident, but you can still get the same effect with a disassembled Proline mic stand from Guitar Center at The Village at Cumberland Park.
John Deacon
John Deacon is the bass virtuoso behind the fat bassline in “Another One Bites the Dust.” He is known for using several kinds of basses, but the one that is most famous is the Music Man Stingray Bass. These come in a wide variety of colors and tones, but they also tend to be a bit pricey. The Sterling by Music Man S.U.B. is an affordable option with a lot of the same features.
No matter which member of Queen is your favorite, the Guitar Center at the Village at Cumberland Park will certainly have what you need to make Christmas special this year. Even if they don’t have a specific item, they can always order it directly from their store. It’s always advised to buy inside of Guitar Center rather than ordering online.
